Garces Memorial hasn't had much luck against Stockdale recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. Garces Memorial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Garces Memorial is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Centennial.
Gavin Williams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Dayne August, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Stockdale, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Frontier on Friday by a score of 9-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Gabriel Borja looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Stockdale got a massive performance out of Charlie Ryder, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Gutierrez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Stockdale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Stockdale's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Garces Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Garces Memorial hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Stockdale struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
