The Fairfield Prep Jesuits's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They took a hard 58-43 fall against New London. While losing is never fun, Fairfield Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while New London is ranked 17th).
Devan Williams was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with three steals for New London. Williams has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of TeeJee Punch, who scored eight points along with three blocks.
Fairfield Prep has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for New London, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Fairfield Prep will face off against Xavier at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Xavier and Fairfield Prep are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for New London, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Lyme at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
