The Rusk Eagles came into Friday's matchup having lost 11 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Hudson by a score of 52-39 on Friday. For Rusk, this counts as revenge for the 43-40 defeat the Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Rusk found their leader in underclassman JoHannah McDonald, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McDonald has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jakaiyah Jenkins, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and three blocks.
Rusk's win ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-22. As for Hudson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-19 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rusk will take on the Panthers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Bullard presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Eagles in Texas (the Panthers are ranked 240th, while the Eagles are ranked 805th). As for Hudson, they will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
