You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Morse Tigers's strategy against the Mt. Carmel Sundevils on Saturday. Morse took down the Sundevils 62-47. Given Morse's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Sundevils are ranked 869th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mt. Carmel's loss came despite strong showings from Grace Weede and Kaelyn Nason. Weede dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, while Nason scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nason has scored all season. Mattea Castro was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Morse is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Mt. Carmel, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-18.
