Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Estill County). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 76-74 victory over the Garrard County Golden Lions on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Engineers also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
The win made it two in a row for Estill County and bumps their season record up to 6-1. As for Garrard County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.
Estill County will take on Landrum in a tournament on Thursday. Landrum knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Estill County likes a good challenge. As for Garrard County, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wolfe County at 5:00 p.m. on December 28th.
