The Community Charter Titans will face off against Valor Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Community Charter is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
Community Charter couldn't beat Bert Corona Charter on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the sixth inning. The Titans fell just short of the Knights by a score of 8-7.
Jose Patlan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Erick Trujillo, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Valor Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Valley Oaks CES on Monday. Valor Academy put the hurt on Valley Oaks CES with a sharp 20-5 win. The result was nothing new for Valor Academy, who have now won five games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Daniel Silva was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Valor Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samuel Herrejon, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Valor Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Andy Garcia was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Valor Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. They are 6-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Valor Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Community Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
Community Charter might still be hurting after the 11-2 defeat they got from Valor Academy in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Titans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
