Basketball Recap: Ryan Nair's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Woodcreek over Ponderosa

Woodcreek was the 76-55 winner over Ponderosa when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Woodcreek Timberwolves fell 63-55 to the Ponderosa Bruins on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Timberwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Bruins are ranked 67th).

Several Timberwolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Nair, who went 6 of 13 en route to 18 points and six rebounds. Nair is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 22 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Chloe Preuss, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Woodcreek now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Ponderosa, the win keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodcreek will welcome Rio Americano at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Woodcreek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season. As for Ponderosa, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bella Vista at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ponderosa knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 contests -- so hopefully Bella Vista likes a good challenge.
