The Winside Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 12th straight defeat. They were outmatched by Osmond/Randolph on the road and fell 51-24. Winside has not had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Winside lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ellie Topp, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Hadleigh Schutt was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Leading Osmond/Randolph to victory were Ella Scott and Keli Aschoff. Scott scored 15 points along with four steals, while Aschoff almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Scott has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Gansebom, who scored eight points along with two steals and two blocks.
Winside dropped their record down to 1-15 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.5 points per game. As for Osmond/Randolph, their victory bumped their record up to 4-14.
Winside is on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on January 31st. Wausa is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for Osmond/Randolph, they will take on the Blujays at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Walthill is ranked 267th, while the Hawks are ranked 244th).
