The Amundsen Vikings will face off against the Tinley Park Titans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
On Friday, Amundsen needed a bit of extra time to put away Fasman Yeshiva. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Fasman Yeshiva, sneaking past 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since April 6th.
Jon Morris tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2025.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Becker, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Antonio Yanez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Tinley Park was able to grind out a solid win over Evergreen Park on Thursday, taking the game 7-4.
Drew Benthine was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Benthine was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Josh Aggen was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs. Nolan Cashmer was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Tinley Park's victory bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Amundsen, their win bumped their record up to 17-7-1.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Amundsen hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Tinley Park struggles in that department as they've averaged .356. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
