Mountain Island Charter is 2-8 against Pine Lake Prep since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Raptors will be playing at home against the Pride at 6:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Mountain Island Charter came up short against Charlotte Latin and fell 6-1. The Raptors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mountain Island Charter saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Featherstone, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.
Meanwhile, Pine Lake Prep got themselves on the board against Central Academy on Thursday, but Central Academy never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 10-0 victory. Considering the Pride have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Alec Brown made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Dylan Brandt was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Aiden Kaliszewski was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1.
Pine Lake Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.
Pine Lake Prep has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Mountain Island Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
