The High Tech SD Storm have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell to La Jolla 42-38. High Tech SD has struggled against La Jolla recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
High Tech SD's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vivianna Cravens, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and six steals. Cravens has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma LaSalle, who scored six points along with eight steals and six assists.
Even though they lost, High Tech SD smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Jolla only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
La Jolla was led to victory by Olivia Snider and Soila Chadwick. Snider scored seven points along with two steals, while Chadwick scored ten points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Snider hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Drew Bennett was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
High Tech SD's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-5. As for La Jolla, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. High Tech SD will challenge Sweetwater at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sweetwater has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for La Jolla, they will head out on the road to face off against Hoover at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hoover will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
