Softball Recap: Freeman Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Freeman won the last time they faced Southern/Diller-Odell and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Falcons put the hurt on Southern/Diller-Odell with a sharp 11-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won nine games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Taelyn Lang made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last ten matchups. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydney Lenners, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Leyton Lueders was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Freeman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern/Diller-Odell only managed five hits.

Freeman's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Southern/Diller-Odell, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Coming up, Freeman will square off against Beatrice at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 3.6, the Orangemen 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Southern/Diller-Odell, they will challenge Platteview at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.
