The Eastlake Titans waltzed into their match Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Otay Ranch by a score of 46-36. For Eastlake, this counts as revenge for the 41-35 defeat Otay Ranch walked away with the last time they faced one another last Wednesday.
Eastlake's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jada White, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. White also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Worley, who scored six points along with 17 rebounds and six blocks.
Despite the defeat, Otay Ranch saw an underclassman step up: Anaya Carter scored ten points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Carter is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Mya Bermudez, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Eastlake has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for Otay Ranch, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
Eastlake is on the road again on January 15th and play against Mira Mesa at 10:30 a.m. on January 15th. As for Otay Ranch, they will be playing in front of their home fans against San Ysidro at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. San Ysidro comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
