Softball Recap: Gretna Drops Season-High Score on Elkhorn South

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Gretna couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost 22-14 to the Elkhorn South Storm on Thursday. On the bright side, the 14- run performance marked the Dragons' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Megan Marshall and Emerson Johnson did some serious damage despite the final result: Marshall went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Johnson went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Kurrus, who went 3-for-6 with three runs and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Gretna and nudges their season record down to 27-9. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Elkhorn South, their win bumped their record up to 24-13.

Gretna does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Elkhorn South, they will face off against Omaha Westside at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.
