The Hughson Huskies had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They snuck past Sonora with a 52-48 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Hughson also won the last time the pair played last Friday.
Madi Duron was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 17 points, 13 rebounds, and nine steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Hughson's points. Kareena Kang was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Sonora's loss came despite strong showings from Taylor Faught and Adeline Hanson. Faught scored 15 points along with five steals, while Hanson scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Hurst, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Sonora were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hughson only pulled down 22 offensive rebounds.
Hughson pushed their record up to 7-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Sonora, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hughson won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Los Banos at 7:00 p.m. on December 21st. Sonora will be home for the holidays to greet Lathrop at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
