The Lexington Minutemen lost against the Fieldcrest Knights back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Lexington took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fieldcrest. While losing is never fun, Lexington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while Fieldcrest is ranked 35th).
Lexington's loss came despite strong showings from Blaine Friedmansky and Ethan Storm. Friedmansky scored 16 points along with two steals, while Storm scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Olson, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Lexington's loss dropped their record down to 20-9. As for Fieldcrest, the victory (which was their 18th in a row) raised their record to 28-1.
Lexington will be playing in front of their home fans against Eureka at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lexington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Monday. As for Fieldcrest, they will head out on the road to face off against LeRoy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fieldcrest is coming into the game with nine straight victories on the road, so LeRoy is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
