The Eisenhower Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Bloomington Bruins at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Eisenhower will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Eisenhower took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Arroyo Valley with a sharp 15-5 victory. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Sebastian Alvarez tossed a big game, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Denzel Sahagun was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Derek Mendoza was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Eisenhower hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Bloomington's offense. They came up short against Jurupa Hills on Tuesday, falling 7-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bruins have suffered since April 4, 2025.
Bloomington also got a good showing from Carlos Perez-Quintero, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Bloomington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Sandoval, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.
With the defeat, Bloomington broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-2. As for Eisenhower, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-9.
Eisenhower couldn't quite get it done against Bloomington in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 as they fell 9-6. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
