The Monache Marauders will take on the Shafter Generals in a tournament on Monday. Monache will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Friday, it was close, but Monache sidestepped Mt. Whitney for a 7-5 win.

Aaron Leyva looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has become a key player for Monache: the team is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.
At the plate, Brandon Correa was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. Benicio Mendoza was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, while Shafter put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for McFarland. The Generals blew past the Cougars 15-0. That looming 15-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Generals yet this season.
Nini Garcia made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Joaquin Garza and Jesiah Rodriguez did most of the damage at the plate: Garza got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Rodriguez went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Julian Munoz also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Shafter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McFarland only managed three.
Monache's record now sits at 9-4. As for Shafter, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Monache's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Marauders have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Shafter, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Monache continue to outrun the ball?
Monache got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2022 against Shafter by a conclusive 13-0 score. Do the Marauders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Generals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
