Sadly, the Niobrara/Verdigre Cougars are still looking for their first win of the season after 16 matchups. They had to suffer through a rough 56-28 loss at the hands of North Central. Niobrara/Verdigre has struggled against North Central recently, as their game on Monday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
North Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Hallock, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hallock has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keian Fischer, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Niobrara/Verdigre's defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-16. As for North Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Niobrara/Verdigre's road trip will continue as they head out to face West Holt at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. West Holt will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Niobrara/Verdigre surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Central, they will head out on the road to challenge Colome at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Central is facing Colome at the right time seeing as Colome is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
