The Brady Eagles lost against the Maywood/Hayes Center Wolves back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The game between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Brady falling 48-29. They have struggled against Maywood/Hayes Center recently, as their game on Thursday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Brady had strong showings from Payton Stienike, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds, and Taryn Stearns, who scored seven points along with 15 rebounds. Those 15 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Maywood/Hayes Center to victory, but perhaps none more so than Karissa Stengel, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Stengel pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Caylie Softley, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Brady's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-3. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.7 points per game. As for Maywood/Hayes Center, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Brady will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Loomis at 4:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Maywood/Hayes Center will take on Garden County in a holiday battle at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday at. Garden County is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
