Desert Edge gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They walked away with a 27-19 win over the Cactus Shadows Falcons. The victory was familiar territory for the Scorpions, who have now won five matches in a row dating back to last season.
Blake Roskopf was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 365 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in one TD on the ground. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. 133 of Roskopf's passing yards were hauled in by Aiden Honeywood, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Despite the loss, Cactus Shadows still got an impressive performance from Donivan Dixon, who rushed for 157 yards and one score while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also threw for 66 yards and one touchdown.
Looking ahead, Desert Edge will venture away from home to face off against Cienega at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. As for Cactus Shadows, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on ALA - Gilbert North at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th.
