The Pioneer Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Dixon Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pioneer is coming into the game hot, having won their last 17 games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Pioneer gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They breezed by Mira Loma on the road to the tune of 70-25. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-9.
Pioneer can attribute much of their success to Naomi Navarro, who scored 20 points, and Olivia Gill, who scored 20 points. Navarro continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa Christian, who scored 11 points.
Dixon suffered their biggest loss since December 21, 2023 on Friday. They suffered a rough 58-34 defeat at the hands of Rio Linda. While losing is never fun, Dixon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 798th, while Rio Linda is ranked 371st).
Pioneer pushed their record up to 20-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Dixon, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.
Everything went Pioneer's way against Dixon when the teams last played on January 2nd as Pioneer made off with a 47-23 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pioneer since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
