Hidden Valley has gone 9-1 against Phoenix recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. Hidden Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Phoenix's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Hidden Valley is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Henley just ended the team's 12-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 1-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Mustangs were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, Phoenix had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it four last Friday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Pelicans.
Alex Charlton made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Phoenix let Wyatt Parent and Conner Cunningham run wild. Parent went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Cunningham went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Cunningham has posted since back in April. Chris Phillips also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Phoenix was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Klamath Union only posted a batting average of .125.
Hidden Valley's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 17-3. As for Phoenix, their record is now 15-8.
Hidden Valley got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Phoenix by a conclusive 16-5 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
