Central Catholic dropped their record down to 17-7 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They lost 17-9 to the Righetti Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Raiders have suffered since March 29th.
Central Catholic got a big performance out of Kayden McHenry, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Perino, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
As for Righetti, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-7. They not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 26th (when they won 13-3).
On Righetti's side, Jacob McMillan and Riley Bassett made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, McMillan struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Bassett tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At the plate, McMillan went 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Bassett went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. McMillan is becoming a predictor of Righetti's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Anderson, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Noah Kesner, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Central Catholic has already played their next game, a 12-4 loss against Cabrillo on the 24th. As for Righetti, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 16-5 win against Bishop Montgomery on the 24th.
