Softball Recap: Gering Wins Going Away Against Adams Central

While Gering put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Adams Central. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 16-0 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Brodee Luce looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaleigh Bohac, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Kloee Peters also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Gering hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Gering is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Adams Central, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-15.

Coming up, Gering will be taking part in a tournament against Lakeview at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Adams Central, they will venture away from home to take on McCook at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bison will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
