Munroe dropped down to 5-12 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 16-5 to the Franklin County Seahawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Seahawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-0 back in February.
Brantlee Suber made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Gustavo Velasquez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
As for Franklin County, they moved to 9-11 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. The result was nothing new for the Seahawks, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
On Franklin County's side, Karcen Poloronis made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Poloronis a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Franklin County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-11 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sadiq Jones, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Colby Blackburn, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Munroe will host Wewahitchka at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Gators will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Franklin County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.15 runs per game on average), something the Seahawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
