The Rancho Cotate Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Healdsburg Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Rancho Cotate was able to grind out a solid win over Windsor, taking the game 50-42. The win made it back-to-back wins for Rancho Cotate.
Rancho Cotate's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Nina Boblitt, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds, and Janice Williams, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Healdsburg had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.9 points), and they went ahead and made it 15 on Saturday. They came out on top against Piner by a score of 54-41. Given Healdsburg's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Piner is ranked 869th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rancho Cotate has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-12 record this season. As for Healdsburg, they pushed their record up to 24-2 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road.
Rancho Cotate was taken down by Healdsburg 67-30 when the teams last played back in January. Can Rancho Cotate avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
