The Jay Royals will face off against the Northview Chiefs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
West Florida hit Jay with a seven-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Royals fell 10-5 to the Jaguars. That's two games in a row now that the Royals have lost by exactly five runs.
Kaylee Gilbreath made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Presley Hawthorne, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Northview got themselves on the board against Destin on Friday, but Destin never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Sharks. The Chiefs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Northview got a massive performance out of Kylee Langham, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI Langham has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Addysen Bolen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Northview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Destin only posted an OBP of .294.
Northview has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Jay, they dropped their record down to 9-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Jay couldn't quite get it done against Northview in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 as they fell 4-1. Can the Royals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
