The Abraham Lincoln Railsplitters entered their tilt with Penn Treaty with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Abraham Lincoln came out on top against Penn Treaty by a score of 41-32 on Wednesday. Given Abraham Lincoln's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Penn Treaty is ranked 594th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Abraham Lincoln found their leader in underclassman Makayla Taylor-Haynes, who scored 16 points. Taylor-Haynes continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Haja Lewis, who scored ten points.
Despite the defeat, Penn Treaty had strong showings from Aliyah Rogers, who scored 18 points, and Destiny Speach, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her.
Abraham Lincoln has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Penn Treaty, they have fallen quite a ways from their 15-4 record last season and are now at 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Abraham Lincoln will take on Carver High School of Engineering & Science at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Penn Treaty, they will head out on the road to face off against Academy at Palumbo at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
