Softball Recap: Fort Calhoun Wins Going Away Against Blue River

Fort Calhoun had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Blue River on Saturday. The Pioneers put the hurt on Blue River with a sharp 12-4 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Pioneers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lyla Pearson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Pearson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Tacey Belina was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. Izabelle Greenough was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Fort Calhoun hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blue River struck out eight times.

Fort Calhoun's record is now 2-0. As for Blue River, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Fort Calhoun has already played their next matchup, a 4-2 win against Guardian Angels Central Catholic on the 23rd. As for Blue River, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-4 victory against Southern/Diller-Odell on the 23rd.
