Baseball Recap: Lakeview Academy Starts Season with Win at Home

Lakeview Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 19-4 margin over the Horizon Christian Academy Warriors. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Hunter Williams was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Williams was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.

In other batting news, Lakeview Academy got a massive performance out of Collin Waldrop, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Ricky Brown, who scored four runs while going 2-for-3.

Having lost for the first time this season, Horizon Christian Academy fell to 2-1.

Lakeview Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against Horizon Christian Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
