The Torrance Tartars will face off against the Palos Verdes Sea Kings at TBD on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Torrance sitting on 12 straight wins and Palos Verdes on four.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Torrance had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Golden Bears and snuck past 2-1.
Torrance was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Jayden Black and
Daylin Nunez, who scored both of Torrance's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 21 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Palos Verdes kept a clean sheet against Troy on Saturday. They won by a goal and slipped past the Warriors 1-0. Given Palos Verdes' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Troy is ranked 45th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Torrance's win bumped their record up to 17-2-3. As for Palos Verdes, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3-1 record this season.
