Westover took an 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Sumter County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Patriots sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 31-30 victory over the Panthers on Wednesday. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 26-15 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.
Sydney Donaldson was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Timeria Neal, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
The victory got Westover back to even at 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westover will welcome Deerfield-Windsor at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sumter County, they will face off against Dougherty at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
