The Delta Saints will take on the Rio Vista Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Tuesday, Delta got the win against Elliot Christian by a conclusive 14-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Saints.
Spencer Buckley made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Delta is 6-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Buckley was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chase Parkinson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grayson Friend, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Delta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elliot Christian only posted a batting average of .217.
Meanwhile, Rio Vista waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Blazers as they made off with an 8-2 win. Considering the Rams have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Leland Jennings spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on one hit and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Rio Vista got a massive performance out of John Brimmer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Brimmer has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Nathan Frisbie was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Delta pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Rio Vista, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Delta has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Rio Vista struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Delta might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Rio Vista in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Saints avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
