It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Carpinteria Warriors can now relate to. They fell just short of the Titans by a score of 39-37.
Despite the defeat, Carpinteria had strong showings from Jamaica Cook, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds, and Penny Wrought, who scored eight points along with six rebounds. That was a full 43.2% of Carpinteria's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Isabella Velasquez was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Carpinteria were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Leading Grand Terrace to victory were Mikhia Anderson and Jayleen Barajas. Anderson scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Barajas scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Barajas is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Carpinteria's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Grand Terrace, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season.
Carpinteria does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Grand Terrace's road trip will continue as they head out to face Colton at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th.
