Kindred is on a nine-game streak of home wins, while Oakes is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Kindred Vikings will take on the Oakes Tornadoes at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Kindred put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Harvey/Fessenden-Bowdon 49-6 at home. Given Kindred's advantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota football rankings (they are ranked third, while Harvey/Fessenden-Bowdon is ranked 27th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Oakes beat Carrington 27-21 on Saturday.
Oakes got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Blayson Dolney out in front who threw for 259 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt. Trey Skoglund was another key contributor, picking up 109 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Kindred's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Oakes, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Kindred took their victory against Oakes in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 21-0. Will Kindred repeat their success, or does Oakes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
