Makena Moffat made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Whitney Sterkis was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Kaitlyn Bunker was another key player, going 1-for-5 with five RBI, one triple, and one run.
Meanwhile, Odessa entered their tilt with Warrensburg on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Tigers.
Bella Blackaby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on ten hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Keely Byrd and Emery LaBoube did most of the damage at the plate: Byrd got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while LaBoube went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenna Pierson, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Albany's victory bumped their record up to 18-2. As for Odessa, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
