The Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders came into Wednesday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Eastlake by a score of 39-30 on Wednesday. The win was just what Mater Dei Catholic needed coming off of a 69-40 loss in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mater Dei Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Promise Martin, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Martin is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Otilia Sua, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Eastlake lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jada White. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. White has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played.
Even though they lost, Eastlake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mater Dei Catholic only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Mater Dei Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Eastlake, they now have a losing record at 13-14.
Mater Dei Catholic will head out on the road to challenge Bonita Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bonita Vista has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 461 points over their last seven matches. As for Eastlake, they will head out on the road to face off against Olympian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Eastlake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday.
