Basketball Recap: Orange Vista's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Orange Vista won the last time they faced JW North, and Taniyah Hutcherson did her part to make sure it happened again. The Orange Vista Coyotes walked away with a 53-40 victory over the JW North Huskies on Thursday thanks in part to Hutcherson, who posted 40 points. The game was her fourth in a row with at least ten points.

JW North's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maya Marmolejo, who earned 12 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Marisol Blanco, who had six points and seven rebounds.

Orange Vista moved to 4-10 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for JW North, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

Orange Vista and Hemet will meet in a canine-themed contest at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Orange Vista has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for JW North, they will head out to face off against Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. JW North is facing Liberty at the right time seeing as Liberty is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
