The Northwest Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Eureka Wildcats at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Northwest has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Eureka will arrive with seven straight victories.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Northwest nor Parkway West made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Lions lost 10-0 to the Longhorns. Surprisingly, this marked the Lions' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Kaylee Eddings spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and eight unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, Eureka got the win against Parkway Central on Friday by a conclusive 9-2. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Paige Deakin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off 12 hits. Deakin was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double.
In other batting news, Eureka let Maddie Rakey and Alina Logush run wild. Rakey went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Logush went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Maddy Wilken also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Eureka was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in five consecutive games.
Northwest's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Eureka, their record is now 11-2.
Northwest couldn't quite get it done against Eureka in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
