Longmont is 0-5 against Holy Family since September of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. The Trojans will square off against the Tigers at 3:00 p.m. Longmont has given up an average of 11.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Longmont couldn't beat Legacy on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Trojans lost 18-6 to the Lightning.
Alex McGregor made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Addison Noller also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Holy Family waltzed into their game on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Knights a 14-0 shutout. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.
Carly Tooley was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lauren Delgado was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Hill, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Holy Family always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairview only posted an OBP of .312.
Longmont's loss dropped their record down to 6-14-1. As for Holy Family, their record is now 16-3.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Longmont hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like Holy Family struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Longmont suffered a grim 16-3 defeat to Holy Family in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
