The Ripon Indians lost against the Escalon Cougars back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Ripon was dealt a 52-24 loss at the hands of the Cougars. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ripon in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.
Sammy Lang was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds for Escalon. Lang is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Arianna Velasco, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Ripon has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for Escalon, they pushed their record up to 22-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ripon won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Hughson will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Escalon, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Livingston focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
