The Orcutt Academy Spartans's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against Arroyo Grande by a score of 46-35. The victory was all the more spectacular given Orcutt Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while Arroyo Grande is ranked 79th).
Orcutt Academy found their leader in underclassman Elizabeth Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 17 rebounds. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Lylah Garcia was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
The win got Orcutt Academy back to even at 9-9. As for Arroyo Grande, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Righetti the next time they take the court. Orcutt Academy will head out to face Righetti at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Arroyo Grande will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
