The Wray Eagles and the Limon Badgers will face off at 4:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
After a string of four wins, Wray's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Dayspring Christian Academy by a score of 52-50.
Despite their defeat, Wray saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sharon Greek, who scored 20 points along with four steals, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Greek has scored all season. Danyelle Davis was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Wray were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Limon suffered their biggest defeat since December 16, 2023 on Saturday. Their rough 61-37 defeat to Merino might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Limon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Merino is ranked fifth).
Wray's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Limon, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.
Wray beat Limon 42-32 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Will Wray repeat their success, or does Limon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
