The Madera South Stallions will head out to take on the Hoover Patriots at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Friday, Madera South came up short against Sunnyside and fell 7-3. The Stallions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Madera South saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Casarez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Hoover had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They came out on top against the Toros by a score of 6-3.
Asa Medina made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
In other pitching news, A J Escamilla looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Chris Herrera was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with 11 RBI, one run, and one double. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 3.2 RBI per game. Alex Rodriguez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Hoover was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Madera South's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Hoover, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Madera South came up short against Hoover in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 5-0. Can the Stallions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
