The Monterey Trail Mustangs can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They breezed by McClatchy on the road to the tune of 71-37. With Monterey Trail ahead 39-11 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Brandon Gibson Jr continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with two steals. He hasn't dropped below 15points for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Rashawn Inglemon, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
McClatchy's loss came despite strong showings from Kendall Andrews and Eugene Castillo. Andrews dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Castillo scored 15 points. Andrews is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played.
The victory (which was Monterey Trail's fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-1. As for McClatchy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Monterey Trail will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Mojave at 5:00 p.m. on January 6th. Mojave has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 516 points over their last seven contests. As for McClatchy, they will head out on the road to face off against Grant at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Grant presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than McClatchy in California (Grant is ranked 185th, while McClatchy is ranked 782nd).
