The Oaks Christian Lions will challenge the Saugus Centurions at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Oaks Christian 3.2, Saugus 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Friday, it was close, but Oaks Christian sidestepped Harvard-Westlake for a 5-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.
James Latshaw was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Latshaw was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

In other pitching news, Connor Sahagun looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Quentin Young, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as he's now launched at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Joshua Brown also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Saugus). Everything went their way against North Hollywood on Tuesday as Saugus made off with a 21-1 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Centurions sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Ming Lee looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Saugus got a massive performance out of Kaden Haag, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Jason-Jd Lawless was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
Saugus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Hollywood only posted a batting average of .118.
Saugus' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Oaks Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Oaks Christian hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Saugus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Oaks Christian came up short against Saugus in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, falling 8-4. Will Oaks Christian have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
