The Lakeside Vikings will challenge the Decatur Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Lakeside and Tucker, and Lakeside kept the tradition alive. The Vikings never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Saturday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Micah Von and Jorge Montano made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Von pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Montano tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Von posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. At bat, Von scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Montano scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
In other pitching news, Jason Ludnai looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one hit in 12 consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Grant Jackson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Lakeside's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-8-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jayden Mosley, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Lakeside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Decatur won against Arabia Mountain two weeks ago with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again last Thursday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Rams. The victory was familiar territory for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven contests in a row.
Decatur's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-13. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lakeside, their win bumped their record up to 15-8-1.
Lakeside couldn't quite get it done against Decatur when the teams last played back in April of 2023 as they fell 5-2. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
