Basketball Game Preview: Kern Valley Broncs vs. Bishop Union Broncos

Kern Valley has gone 9-1 against Bishop Union recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Kern Valley Broncs will challenge the Bishop Union Broncos at 6:30 p.m. Kern Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.5 points per game this season.

Kern Valley is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering El Diamante just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They received a blow as they fell 65-50 to the Miners. The loss put an end to the Broncs' undefeated start to the season.

Kern Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jessie Bunting, who went 11 for 15 on her way to 22 points and six rebounds, and Jayda Bushling, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten assists. Bushling has been hot recently, having posted nine or more assists the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Elliott, who posted five points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Bishop Union put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Mineral County, posting a 62-5 win. The Broncos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 30 points or more this season.

Kern Valley better focus on containing Kristin Allen and Sienna Fuller as the pair were huge in Bishop Union's win. Allen had eight points and five steals, while Fuller went 5 of 6 on her way to 10 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Faye Spoonhunter, who put up eight points.

Bishop Union's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Kern Valley, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Kern Valley has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 43 boards per game. However, it's not like Bishop Union struggles in that department as they've been averaging 20.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
