Basketball Game Preview: Tussey Mountain Titans vs. Southern Huntingdon County Rockets

Tussey Mountain and Southern Huntingdon County are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Tussey Mountain Titans are taking a road trip to take on the Southern Huntingdon County Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Tussey Mountain is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Southern Fulton to the tune of 71-37 on Saturday. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 20 points or more this season.

Tussey Mountain found their leader in sophomore Karah Husick, who went 8 of 15 en route to 18 points and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Husick has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubree Weaver, who posted 12 points and six assists.

Tussey Mountain was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Southern Huntingdon County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 65-60 to Williamsburg. The defeat continues a trend for the Rockets in their matchups with the Blue Pirates: they've now lost four in a row.

Tussey Mountain's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Southern Huntingdon County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

Tussey Mountain took a serious blow against Southern Huntingdon County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 62-32. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Tussey Mountain was down 39-14.
